As part of building self-esteem and getting to know each other, our class will be having a weekly Star Student.  The Star Students are posted on the class calendar online and parent board in the classroom.

Make a Poster

As Star Student, your child will need to make a poster about himself/herself to share with the class.

The poster is due MONDAY of your child's SS week and will be returned at the end of the school year.

Here are some ideas to help your child with decorating his/her poster:

  • Use markers, pens, crayons, glitter, or paint to brightly display his/her name.

  • Display a picture of child with a photograph or drawing.

  • Display pictures or drawings of family, friends, and/or pets.

  • Cut out pictures from magazines to show a favorite food, hobby, or anything else your child likes.

  • Write words or statements describing favorite hobbies, talents, and interests.  (i.e. My favorite book is...)

  • Let your child use his/her imagination.  The sky is the limit.  Be creative.  This should be a fun activity for you and your child.

Adventures with Super Cat

As Star Student your child will also get to take home Super Cat, our classroom mascot, and his notebook.  Super Cat and his notebook will go home with your child on the Monday of your child's SS week and is due back on Friday. Please make sure that your child takes good care of Super Cat, his bag, and his journal.

  1. In the notebook, help your child tell their own tale about an adventure that Super Cat had or something Super Cat and your child did during the week.

  2. Your child should write his/her name and date at the top of the page.  Encourage your child to let his/her imagination fly!

  3. Your child should draw and color a picture to go with the story.

On Friday, Mrs. Vazquez will read the story to the class.  Your child will share his/her picture and answer questions.  The children and teachers look forward to hearing about Super Cat's adventures.
